Tim's Music
Vermont-based composer and multi-instrumentalist Timothy Cummings shares an uncommon hybrid of traditional folk styles -primarily Scottish and Appalachian- which occasionally expand beyond traditional boundaries.

Tim is an experienced performer, teacher, and workshop-leader (primarily of bagpipes) and frequently combines music, humor, and informative talks to enliven and educate his audiences about the refreshingly odd world of piping. His repertoire covers traditional/folk, contemporary, sacred, and a variety of other genres.

Tim has been featured on the Manawatu Scottish Pipe Band's Twelve Thousand Miles and Sam Guarnaccia's ‘A Celtic Mass for Peace’ (both 2009); in 'Pastoral' (Vermont, 2008); on Kalvos & Damian's New Music Bazaar (WGDR, 2003); on Radio New Zealand, presenting a two-part series on the history and music of the Highland bagpipe (2002); on a quirky Coca-Cola television commercial (Palomar Pictures, 1997); and several other small-label albums in New Zealand, Canada, and the U.S. His arrangement of 'My Shepherd Will Supply My Need' for Highland pipes and organ was published by GIA Music (2004, Chicago, IL), and since then he has published his own compositions, arrangements, and compilations through Beithe Publishing. Tim continues to perform regularly and lead workshops at various music camps, weekend workshops, and festivals. He also teaches privately in Charlotte, VT, and at Middlebury and St. Michael's Colleges.
